WHAT TO WEAR:
INSIDE:
The Snowy Mountains weather is unpredictable and constantly changes but luckily Windarra is fully insulated and has a very efficient heating system. You should feel comfortable in casual gear, but we do recommend something warm for the feet.
OUTSIDE:
The weather can definitely throw a curve ball and so the recommended option is to take layers. Waterproof ski jacket and pants being the best option, layering it with thermals, and maybe a skivvy or fleece for those extra cold days. Beanies, scarves, ear/ neck warmers, bandanas are also handy.
A good pair of shoes/ boots, gloves/ mittens to prevent cold digits and wear helmets, wrist guards etc if you are one with a bit of an adventurous spirit. Team it up with goggles/ sunglasses, put on sun block and chapstick and you should be ready to go! FOOD:
Bring your food, snacks and drinks for the week. Food and drinks can be stored in an allocated cupboard, shelf in the fridge or a designated freezer slot. Items that always go down well are cereal, porridge, snacks, spreads, nut selections, cheese and crackers, fruit, treats, Milo, pasta dishes, fruit juice, wine, beer, schnapps etc. There is a convenience store in Smiggins (Snowline Ski Centre) and Perisher for a small selection of necessities. For a more thorough range its wise to stock up in Jindabyne or when you pass through Cooma. For lazy days you can go to the nearby Smiggins Hotel which has a restaurant and bistro, which also provides meals for children or order a take-away pizza available from the hotel.
It's highly recommended that you have a water bottle/ bladder on you so you can keep hydrated while exercising. Back to top

ENTERTAINMENT:
Please note that there is no internet, TV or video at Windarra. If you do bring laptops, tablets etc please also bring earphones as to not to disturb
others. If you have a favourite board game or card game they make great night time entertainment. The pool table is available for people with a competitive streak, otherwise bring your favourite book & just simply crash out in the lounge. For young ones please bring plenty to keep them entertained, this could include games, colouring books or Lego etc. Back to top

CARS AND CAR PARKING:

When driving within Kosciuszko National Park, all 2WD cars and vans will need to carry chains for your tyres. There is a $300 fine if caught without. Shops and petrol stations around Cooma and Jindabyne offer hire. Entering Kosciuszko National Park you will require a permit that you will need to adhere to your front windscreen. Windarra Lodge has 5 pre-allocated car spots for overnight parking. You need to request a spot at the time of booking. You will be told whether you have been allocated a spot shortly before your stay. Costs: (Member - $100 for 7 nights (or $25 per night if not a 7 night stay) Visitors - $200 for 7 nights (or $50 per night if not 7 night stay). If you have been allocated parking and have paid – please see the lodge captain for a parking permit and leave a deposit of $20 which will be refunded on return of the permit, be sure the number of your permit has been noted on the permit register – or if unavailable they are in the folder in the bookshelf of the right hand kitchen coming up the stairs. Please ensure you return the permit at the end of your stay otherwise it renders the spot unavailable. All vehicles will be booked without a permit on display. 

The carpark is found behind the lodge click here for map. In winter, most guests offload at Windarra then park their car for free at the Bullocks Flat Ski Tube which is on the way to Thredbo resort on Alpine Way. The Ski Tube takes about 10 minutes and will drop you off at Perisher Terminal. From there, ski or catch the bus back to Smiggins. Back to top

SEASON PASSES/ TICKETS AND SKI TUBE PRICES:
You can buy your lift tickets either in Jindabyne or at the mountain ticket offices.
It is advisable that you check the weather forecasts before purchasing tickets. It's not the most pleasant thing skiing in a blizzard.

COVID:

Please check Windarra’s Covid requirements on your booking slips before leaving for your stay. FYI everyone it is required to take a RAT Test  down with you incase needed during your stay. (1 x per person)
1. No proof of vaccination is required, but preference is for members and guests to be vaccinated.
2. The Board requests each Member/Guest bring one RAT test per person upon entering the lodge.
3. Member/Guest must advise the lodge captain immediately once someone becomes unwell.
4. Guests who test positive with a RAT test need to isolate and leave the lodge as soon as practical. Other guests within group are encouraged to wear masks until they test negative otherwise must depart as well.
